In this final short video of Pincha Mayrurasana(Forearm balance) there are some safety points that need to be noted.
When you are working with a partner to help you up into the final pose, SAFETY is the first and most important criteria.
Follow this protocol and you will be safe.
1) The helper stands with buttocks supported by wall to give that person support with their knees slightly bent. This is essential so that when the student kicks up they do not push the knees backward into hyperextension.
2) Feet are either side of elbow but not pressing into the students arm. Have the ankle bone roughly in line with the elbow joint.
3) The helper has to bring their knees in towards each other somewhat so their SHIN supports the shoulder blade, preferably towards the inner edge. If one cannot do this action because of knee issues , please do not go further. Find someone else to help.
4) Take hold of the front hip bones; do not move hands from this position as you will loose the support that you are providing for the student.
5) The student must NEVER kick up until there has been verbal communication that you are ready.
6) The helper MUST move their head to the side away from the line of the legs and then give verbal go ahead.
